Vickie (Zerella) Elie

Vickie Elie, age 101, of Fairfield, formerly of Elmont, NY, beloved wife of both the late Francis Fanelli and Jack Elie, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Bridgeport Hospital.  Born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Pellegrino and Assunta Zerella, she had been a Fairfield resident for the last 12 years. 

Vickie, a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother devoted all of time to her family whether cooking wonderful meals or spending cherished quality time.  She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Francine Jacques and her husband Murray of Fairfield; her son, Joseph Fanelli and his wife Christine of Hobe Sound, FL; her four cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Siegert and her husband Bradley of Bronxville, NY, Andrew Jacques and his fiancé Alexa of St. Louis, MO, Joseph Fanelli, Jr. of the Yonkers, NY and Marissa Fanelli of Durham, NC; two great-grandchildren, Blaire and Chloe Siegert and many nieces and nephews. 

Her life was centered around her family and extended family – she was a role model to all who knew her– always kind, a great listener, and an independent woman.

Vickie worked for many years at a dress manufacturing company until taking it over after the passing of her second husband.  She later worked for many years at the Elmont Public Library, and after moving to Fairfield was very active at the Fairfield Senior Center where she helped run the gift shop and developed many dear friends.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Fay, Rocco, Angelo and Louis.  An entombment service will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Pinelawn Memorial Park, 2030 Wellwood Ave., Farmingdale, NY.  In lieu of flowers, family and friends may consider a donation in Vickie’s memory be made to Bigelow Center for Senior Activities, Lifelong Learners Program.  A celebratory luncheon will be held after the entombment service at Verona Restaurant, 1255 Melville Rd, Farmingdale, NY.
