Thomas J. Greenwood, Jr.

Thomas J. Greenwood, Jr., age 68, of Bridgeport passed away on Wednesday April 6th after a long illness. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Sr. and Catherine (Robstock).  Tom was the beloved brother of John (Diane) Wayne, PA, Christopher (Dina Gottlieb), Trumbull, James (Karen) Fairfield, Katie O’Connell (Tucker) Fairfield, and Frank (Dee) of Wakefield, MA along with 17 cherished nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly: Patrick, Kristin, Kara, MaryJo, Meggie, Ginny, Keeley, Emma, Ian, Katie, Mary, Elizabeth, Colleen, Erin, Samantha, Frankie and Joey.  Tom will also be greatly missed by his five great nieces and nephews: Grayson, Tucker, Connor, Michael and Caroline.  In addition to being a small business owner, Tom enjoyed spending time with family and summers at the family Westbrook beach house.  Tom loved his trips that he made over the years to Australia, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and to the Los Angeles Olympics.  He travelled for years with his softball teams. He truly was a great person and was always willing to offer assistance to everyone and anyone.  Tom loved history, especially World War II documentaries and completing the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle.  He loved sports and knew more stats than most; he was the original Google. Tom attended Keene State College where he ran cross-country and track and was an alum of Sacred Heart University.  Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 10th from 2 to 6 pm in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 S. Benson Rd., Fairfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 11th at 10:00 a.m. St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Fairfield.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Swim Across the Sound, 2800 Main St., Bridgeport, CT 06604.
