Thomas William Grant, III

Thomas William Grant III of Fairfield passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Nancy Leeds Reimers Grant. Thomas was the son of the late Thomas Jr. and Dorothy Banks Grant, and traced his family history in Fairfield for more than 11 generations.

Upon Graduation from Duke University, Thomas moved to New York City and entered a lifelong career in the banking industry, ultimately retiring as a Senior Vice President with Webster Bank.  While in New York as a young man, he met Nancy and the two decided to move to his hometown of Fairfield where they have spent the last 59 years. Thomas was an active member of Greenfield Hill Congregational Church where he sang in the choir for many years, The Fairfield Historical Society, and served as the chairman of the Board of Goodwill Industries. He was a former director and executive committee member of the Greater Norwalk Chamber of Commerce, the Danbury Chamber of Commerce, and the United Way of Northern Fairfield County. Thomas was also an avid historian of early American history, a member of The Fairfield Beach Club, and involved in Pop Warner Football. After his retirement he and Nancy worked side by side at Grant Farm in Fairfield. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife Nancy, he is survived by his three children: Gretchen, Chris, and Tim and their respective spouses Lee, Amanda, and Karen. He is also survived by his 10 beloved grandchildren: Grant, Arden, Heather, Barrett, Bryn, John, Connor, Tyler, Carys, and Jameson.

A Funeral Service will be held at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church on Saturday June 11, 2022 at 10 AM, burial will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends and family may visit at the Spear Miller Funeral Home 39 S. Benson Rd., Fairfield on Friday June 10 from 4-7PM.
