Terence (Terry) Barber, age 86, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023, peacefully at home with family by his side. Born in Bridgeport, CT, raised in Stratford, CT, he was a resident of Fairfield, CT for his entire adult life.
He was a proud successful sole owner of Terry Barber Plumbing, Inc. until his retirement.
Terry was one of the original Milford Rider Motorcycle Club members. He was a legend in the motorcycle racing world, winning a race in Laconia, Hew Hampshire in his senior years. A book of knowledge when it had to do with motorcycles, just ask Terry and he would tell you 1000 stories. A true MacGyver of his time, his motto was “I can fix anything except a broken heart and the break of day.” His love for motorcycles, antique cars and plumbing was surpassed only by his love for his family, friends and home. Old school tough with a heart of gold, being sorely missed by those who knew and loved him is an understatement.
Terry is predeceased by his son Bill Barber and step-daughter Dana Rentz Chaisson.
He leaves behind his devoted wife Barbara, daughter Leeann Barber O’Sullivan and Kerry; daughter Kim Barber and Charlie McQuade and son Terry Barber, Jr.; grandchildren Myles, Connor and Kelly O’Sullivan, Katelyn and Will Barber, Tommy Barber and great-granddaughter Delilah Barber; dear family friend, Scott Lumley; sister Elaine McPadden and step-sisters Laurie Cayer and Carol Barber.
All services will be held privately. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in Terry’s name may do so to: Make-A-Wish Foundation of CT, 56 Commerce Drive, Trumbull, CT 06611.
