Robert W. Johnson

Robert W. Johnson, age 85, of Fairfield, beloved husband of the late Ruth (Elias) Johnson, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center.  Born in Stamford, the son of the late Walter and Alice Johnson, he had been a Fairfield resident since 1957.  Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1956.  He was employed for 39 years for the Town of Fairfield retiring as a Foreman in 1999. He served as a volunteer fireman for many years, first for the Belltown Fire Department and later for Fairfield Hook & Ladder Company #1.  Robert loved dogs and following NASCAR.  He will be sadly missed by his three beloved children, Lisa Chichisola and her husband Louie of Statesville, NC, Loretta Harsche and her husband Bill of Statesville, NC and Robert Johnson of Fairfield; nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by two sisters, Germaine Fennelly and Winifred Meehan.  A funeral service will be held Monday, March 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield with the Rev. Dr. David Rowe officiating.  Interment will be private in St. Michael’s Cemetery.  A walk-through visitation will be held Sunday from 3-5 p.m. in the funeral home.  Per CDC guidelines, face masks and social distancing will be required for all services.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
