Peter Stern Obituary

Peter L. Stern, age 83, beloved husband of 63 years to Judith H. (Bilyard) Stern, of Fairfield, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, February 2, 2021. Born in New York City to David and Catherine (Lewis) Stern, Peter grew up in Fairfield, graduating with the Roger Ludlowe High School class of 1956. Soon after graduating, Peter was enlisted in the United States National Guard. After his proud service, Peter began working at SNET as an installation technician and repairman, as he would continue to do for 38 years. A self-proclaimed “workaholic,” Peter spent most of his days hard at work, but always found time to be with his family. He loved being at water’s edge, whether out on his boat or swimming at the beach. Peter also coached the Fairfield Little League baseball team for several years. He loved golf, working as a caddy through high school; Peter would play as often as he could, especially after retirement. He was a great father to his three children, but there was nothing he cherished more in the world than his granddaughters, Grace and Olivia. In addition to his devoted wife, Judith, Peter is survived by his loving children; Peter C. Stern (Busia) of Fairfield, Jeffrey R. Stern of Fairfield, and Mimi Stern of Norwalk; his two treasured granddaughters, Grace and Olivia Stern of Fairfield; as well as his sister, Suzanne Stern-Tucci of Florida. Peter is predeceased by his parents, as well as his three brothers Barry Stern, Michael Stern, and Richard Stern. Due to current Covid-19 conditions, a service will be held privately for the family, with a public service to be scheduled in the future.
