Mary Walsh Obituary

Mary Lou (Kasinak) Walsh, of Monroe and formerly of Southport, passed away on August 31, 2021.  She was the wife of the late Robert C. Walsh and the daughter of the late John and Julia (Lesko) Kasinak.  Mary Lou was born in Bridgeport and raised in Stratford.  She is survived by her daughter Shannon Gershel and her husband, Ben, of Monroe, son Brian Walsh and his wife, Laurel Neary Walsh, of Trumbull and stepson Robert Walsh of Anderson, California, as well as three cherished grandchildren, Lindsey Gershel and Jack and Colleen Walsh.  Also survived by her sisters, Phyllis Caple and her husband, Bill, of Monroe and Jacqueline Warren of Monroe, as well as an uncle, aunts, nieces, nephew, cousins, great-nieces and nephews and many friends.  She was predeceased by her stepdaughter, Donna Walsh and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Suto.  A graduate of Bunnell High school and The Bridgeport School of Nursing, Mary Lou worked at Bridgeport Hospital, Park City Hospital and a number of medical offices during her long career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, before retiring a number of years ago. A walkthrough visitation will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021 from 1:00 pm-3:30 pm in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.  A prayer service will conclude the visitation.  Interment will be private. Per CDC guidelines, face masks are required.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105 or Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516.
