Leonard J. Martini

Leonard J. Martini (“Lenny”) of Fairfield, beloved husband of Veronica M. Martini (deceased) of 59 years, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Sunday, June 6, 2021. He was born on March 20, 1930 in Bridgeport.

He received a Bachelors and Masters degree from Julius Hartt College of Music, University of Hartford and a 6th Year Degree from Fairfield University. Leonard served in the US Army before starting his career as a music teacher. He had a tremendous passion for music and life. Leonard taught instrumental music for 33 years in the Fairfield Public Elementary Schools. After retirement in 1992, he was a music teacher at Green Farms Academy, Westport.

Leonard was the Music Director for the Summer Concert Series at Penfield. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Gaelic American Club and Bridgeport Musician’s Union. And, a long time Parishioner and head usher at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Leonard enjoyed golf, walking and was a member of the Teachers Bowling League. He loved to play the violin, clarinet and frequently entertained family and friends with the piano. Leonard especially enjoyed family vacations in the Berkshires and Mexico.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan M. Martini of Fairfield, his son Michael J. Martini and wife Mary T. Martini and grandson, Zachary G. Martini of Stratford.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 10 am, St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road Fairfield. Interment will follow at St. Michaels Cemetery, Stratford.
