Joan Murchie

Joan Murchie, 88, of Fairfield, CT, died peacefully in her home on Thursday November 1, 2023.

She was born in Bridgeport, CT in 1934 to Muriel and Alexander Murchie.  She attended the University of Connecticut studying Education.  She then taught 1st Grade for 40 years in the Bridgeport Schools.

She was preceded in death by her beloved George "Don" Peterson, her sister Elsie and brother-in-law, Lowell Richard. She is survived by her nephew Glenn Richard and wife Noelle, grandnephew Frank Richard and Andrea, her niece Dawn Bohin and husband Jonathan, grandnieces Amy and Michelle Bohin, grandnephew Matthew Bohin, and her cousins Cindy and Royal Ruffles.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday November 7, 2023 at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Rd., Fairfield, Internment will follow at the Kings Highway Cemetery in Milford. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home on Monday from 5PM-7PM In lieu of flowers, donations to any animal rescue group would be greatly appreciated.
