Helen S. Soule

Helen Sunderland Soule, beloved wife of the late Maynard (Bill) Soule of Fairfield, passed away at home on April 24, 2023 with her family by her side. Born on May 24, 1943 in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of Oswald and Charlotte Sunderland. She was the mother of Jennifer Smith, William Soule, Elizabeth Stea and the late David Soule.

Helen graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School, class of 1961. She was a registered nurse and spent her career working at The Carolton Hospital. She was happiest when surrounded by her family, Bill, her husband of 59 years, her children and grandchildren: Stephanie and Brittany Smith, Caroline and Katie Soule, Samuel Stea and Grace Kastel. In addition, she was the sister of Jean Myers and the late Ruth Freeman.

Helen was a kind, caring person with a heart of gold. She always enjoyed gardening and taking walks with her sister, Jean. She loved to travel with her husband. Many vacations were spent camping on road trips and also cruising on ships, river boats and windjammers. She loved visiting national and state parks, the coast of Maine and Vermont in the fall and exploring the many cities and sights in the USA, Europe, Canada and Mexico.

Services have been held privately with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery in Fairfield. Contributions in Helen’s memory may be made to Operation Hope, 636 Old Post Road, Fairfield, CT 06824.
