Francis W. Carroll, Jr., age 88, of Fairfield, beloved husband of the late Susan H. Carroll, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family Thursday, May 27, 2021. Born in Bridgeport, the son of the late Frank W. and Agnes Flanagan Carroll, he was a lifelong Fairfield resident. Bud graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas School, Fairfield College Preparatory School, and Fairfield University, Class of 1955, and served in the United States Army. Following his graduation, Bud went to work for his father at F.W. Carroll and Son Plumbing and Heating, and ran the business into his 80s. He was an active parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Bud was a member of the Patterson Club and the Pine Creek Par Three Seniors’ group. He enjoyed his get togethers with his fellow Fairfield University Alumni R.O.M.E.O. group. Bud loved gardening, golfing, and traveling with Sue, especially their trips to Europe, U.K. and the U.S. National Parks. He enjoyed fun times with family at Edgewater and was a die-hard Boston Red Sox fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Predeceased by his loving daughter, Suzanne Fracasse, he is survived by four beloved children, Lynn Carroll-Musk and her husband Howard of New York City, Francis W. Carroll, III (Buddy) and his wife Patti of Fairfield, John H. Carroll (Pam) of Bridgeport and Leslie C. Morin and her husband Scott of West Hartford; a son-in-law Paul Fracasse of Cheshire; a sister, Nancy Dailey of Fairfield; seven cherished grandchildren, Courtney (Chris), Cassie, Michaela, Shane, Olivia, Claire and Hannah; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Vivian Reidy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
