Esther Sotolongo, age 90, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Pastor G. Sotolongo, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Friday, May 21, 2021. Born in Hubei, China, the daughter of the late Liu Enhou and Bai Nanzhen, she had been a Fairfield resident for the last 45 years. She received a BS degree and a Masters degree in Nursing from Boston University. She worked at Park City Hospital and for the Bridgeport Visiting Nurse Association, and would often take extra shifts to earn enough money to send her sons to private schools. Esther was a member of First Church Congregational and enjoyed spending time at the Fairfield Senior Center where she developed many close friendships. Esther was the epitome of a loving wife and mother who always placed the needs of her family above her own. She will be sadly missed by her two loving sons, Timothy Sotolongo and his wife, Alicia of Shelton and Samuel Sotolongo and his fiancé, Kay of Fairfield; six cherished grandchildren, Lucas, Olivia, Elise, Seth, Shane and Sidney; two sisters, Rhoda Lo and Pearl Liao; three brothers, Paul Liu, John Liu, and Phillip Liu; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 10 a.m. at First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road, Fairfield with the Rev. David Spollett officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may consider a donation in Esther’s memory to American Cancer Society.
