Dennis Prendergast

Dennis "Skin" Sean Prendergast, age 63 of Fairfield, left this world to sail on bigger seas the evening of August 21, 2020 as the sun was setting, surrounded by loved ones. Born to John "Jack" and Marie (Judge) Prendergast in Easton, PA in 1956, Dennis and his family moved to Fairfield where he attended St. Thomas Aquinas School. He graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School, class of 1975, where he was a star baseball athlete. Dennis worked for 30 years as a Project Manager for CHE Mechanical Heating and Air Conditioning. He is loved and revered by hundreds, and probably feared by a few. He was the steady rock; the one who knew what to say, what song to play, and never forgot a birthday. Dennis was a lifelong Boston Red Sox and New York Jets fan through thick and thin. He loved boating, playing golf, and was a long time member of the Fairfield Bocce League. He tipped generously, lived wholeheartedly, and loved unconditionally; not only to his family, but his kindness extended through to friends and neighbors alike. To know him was to love him; it is an understatement to say he will be missed. In addition to his loving companion of 26 years, Paddie Sullivan, Dennis is survived by three loving daughters; Tara Prendergast of Anoka, MN, Jillian Prendergast of Santa Fe, NM, and Lily O'Donnell of Milford; two cherished grandsons, Duncan Thomas Clark and Sawyer Jack Clark of Anoka, MN; as well as two brothers, James Prendergast of Bridgeport and Kevin Prendergast (Patricia) of Old Saybrook. He is also survived by a niece and two nephews, Sarah, Daniel, and Thomas Prendergast of Old Saybrook; many legendary Minooka/Scranton cousins and extended family; as well as so many treasured friends that became family including his lifelong best friend "Sully" and Sully's adoring family. In addition to his parents Jack and Marie, Dennis is predeceased by his sister Noreen Prendergast; and a crew of great friends to welcome him to the beaches of heaven. A gathering to celebrate Dennis's life will be held Saturday, August 14, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
