Alan J. Weiner

Alan J. Weiner (aka Al Coyote Weiner), age 85, of Fairfield, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021 in Bridgeport Hospital after a long illness with respiratory diseases.  Alan leaves behind his beloved wife, Fay Carpenter Weiner.

Born in Bridgeport, Alan was raised Fairfield, and loved the town.  Alan took up art about 20 years ago, when he was looking for something to do in his “later years.”  He had it narrowed down to poker, fishing or art.  Alan was teaching at Housatonic Community College, and started taking art classes.  He loved them!

Alan felt his live has been an amazing journey.  He met and married “the woman of his dreams” who was supportive of his artworks and other endeavors.  Alan pursued many creative vocations, and reached levels of accomplishment in them all – singing, acting, writing, professional golf – but none of them really clicked.  Not until he started painting. 

Graduating from the University of Miami, Alan went to England to earn a Master’s degree in Creative Writing in London and Oxford from Antioch International University.  Upon his return from Europe, he was accepted as a playwright at Yale School of Drama.   

Painting became his passion.  His work is avant-garde; Alan called his style maverick expressionism, unimpeded by society’s dictates. His works are bright, colorful and edgy.

Friends and family are invited to gather on Saturday, January 8th, 2021 at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. From 10 – 11am, guests can arrive and talk with the family; an informal memorial service will start at 11am.  The family is asking that only vaccinated people attend.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Fairfield Public Library.
