Virginia (Ginny) Burpos, 93 of Bridgeport, CT passed away peacefully at home on June 23, 2025, with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of the late Elias (Lou) Apostolos (Paul) Burpos, her beloved husband of 51 years. She was the daughter of the late William Stoughton and A. Kathleen (Hodgdon) Liscomb.
Ginny was born in her home in Bristol, RI, which is nicknamed “America’s most patriotic town” as it is one of the oldest 4th of July celebrations in the country. In 1949, Ginny graduated from Colt Memorial High School in Bristol. In 1953, she graduated with her degree as a registered nurse from Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing in Providence and was hired to work in the Operating Room. In 1958, she married Lou and they moved to Connecticut to raise their family and continue her career as a Registered Nurse in the emergency room at St. Vincent’s Medical Center until her retirement.
Ginny’s smile lit up a room. She most loved spending time with her grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to be with them. She loved to “shop till she dropped”, garden, sing, dance and decorate for birthdays and holidays. She also enjoyed playing the slots at the casino with her family and friends.
Ginny is survived by her three daughters: Donnalee Burpos of Beverly Hills, CA; Pamela Burpos of Bridgeport, CT; and Cheryl Sylvia, her husband Gerry of Easton, CT and their three sons: Nick, Cole, and Sam.
Ginny is predeceased by her husband Lou, her sister Beverly and her husband Robert Faulkner.
A private memorial service will take place at the North Buriel Ground at Colt State Park, Bristol, RI.
