Vincent Gerald Krenke (Jerry), age 90, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2026. Jerry lived over forty years in Fairfield and later moved to Stratford, CT where he and his loving wife, Alice, were blessed to have many kind and loving neighbors whom they cherished. Jerry was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven by the love of his life Alice, his parents Vincent and Elinor Krenke, his sister Winona (Nonie) Clouse, his brother Wayne Krenke and many loving and close friends.
Jerry is survived by his daughters: Elizabeth Broas and Mari Alice Hine; his son Kenneth Krenke; son-in-laws Frederick Hine and Tony Broas; and daughter-in-law, Shelly Castiola. He also is survived by his grandchildren whom he loved immensely: Megan, Brooke, Paige, Joshua, Madeline and Chace, as well as his great grandson, Tanner.
Jerry was a kind, loving, and generous person who had a strong faith in God. He was born in a small farm house in Colerain, Ohio and was raised in Beaver, Pennsylvania. Jerry would often speak of his love for his Mom’s homemade egg noodles, all of her canned goods from the garden and her homemade pies. He grew up in a home filled with love and carried that forward when he started his own family.
After graduating from Beaver High School, he attended Purdue University and later, after moving to Connecticut with his parents, graduated from the University of Connecticut as an Electrical Engineer. He went on to receive his master’s degree from the University of Bridgeport. During Jerry’s career as an electrical engineer, he secured patents for the ultrasound, the car cigarette lighter, and the electric sock, which he was most proud of. Jerry loved the challenge of developing new technology that would help people. He took the Mensa IQ test and scored very highly, but humbly kept that to himself and his family, who were so very proud of him.
With all of Jerry‘s accomplishments, his greatest of all was his family. Jerry met Alice, the love of his life, in church when Alice was 15 and he was 19. They married on January 1, 1960 and happily spent the next 61 years together, exemplifying what true love is to everyone who knew them. Jerry and Alice would go on to make a beautiful family together based on love, kindness, and caring for others. Jerry and Alice would always selflessly give of themselves to others, never expecting anything in return but love, smiles and happiness. They were devoted members of First Church Congregational in Fairfield, Connecticut. Jerry spent many years as a Deacon of the church, cooking soups and meals for many family potluck dinners and church luncheons. He built countless bird houses and beautifully crafted tables for the Christmas fair as well. Jerry always was there to lend a helping hand and was an advocate for Operation Hope and Habitat for Humanity, helping to build and fix homes in Biloxi, Mississippi for people in need. Jerry‘s kind heart and loving soul was a blessing to not only his three children, but to his six grandchildren and great grandson who has inherited his loving spirit, intelligent mind and his beautiful, sparkling blue eyes. Jerry’s love and never-ending devotion to his family will forever be held in our hearts.
A memorial service is planned for Jerry on Saturday, November 7 at 1pm at First Church Congregational - 148 Beach Road, Fairfield, CT.
For those who knew and loved Jerry and Alice, it would be wonderful to have you there to celebrate their beautiful lives as when Alice had passed away, the world was in the midst of the pandemic, and we could not come together at that time.
