Sandra “Sandy” Bromer passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026 at the age of 87.
Sandy was born and raised in Narberth, Pennsylvania to parents Ruth Phillip Bromer and Edward Bromer.
She attended Tufts University and lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts before moving to NYC which became her home for many years. In 1985, Sandy moved to Fairfield, Connecticut calling it home along with Provincetown, Massachusetts.
Sandy excelled as an athlete, serving as captain of the tennis, field hockey, and girls’ basketball teams during her high school years. As an adult, Sandy continued to be active in sports including tennis, golf and biking.
Sandy went on to have a successful career as an executive at IBM before leaving to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming an artist. Her art has been displayed in venues throughout multiple states.
Sandy spent much of her time advocating for children and families. She was the Chairman of the Board of Directors at FSW (now Lifebridge Community) and sat on the Board of Directors of the National Alliance of Children and Families. Sandy’s commitment to fighting homelessness resulted in her becoming an early member of the Bridge Fund of NY as well as founding the Bridge Fund of CT. She also served as a deacon of First Church Congregational in Fairfield, Connecticut.
Sandy’s love of nature, beauty and people led to extensive travels in New Zealand, Mexico, Canada, and Europe. She had a special love for Provence France, Greece and Tuscany Italy.
Sandy lived with her spouse, Patrica Kearney, and their dog Buddy.
A memorial service will be held on February 7, 2026 at 11am at First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Rd, Fairfield, CT 06824.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations in Sandy’s name be made to a charity of one’s choice.
