Sandra H. Hiltz

Sandra H. Hiltz, age 88, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 27, 2025 in her home following a long illness. Born in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late Herbert and Evelyn Hoskins, she had been a lifelong Fairfield resident. Mrs. Hiltz graduated from the Thomas School in Rowayton and attended Wheelock College in Boston. Sandra married the love of her life, Ellis Hiltz, on September 6, 1958. Together they raised four children. Sandra grew up enjoying the Fairfield Beach Club as a child. Later as an adult she became a member for the rest of her life. She was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Southport where she served for many years on the Altar Guild, then forming the Trinity Flower Guild in 2008. She loved flower arranging be it at church or in her home and gardens. She was a member of the Greens Farms Garden Club. Sandra loved to sew and was a member for many years of the Smocking Arts Guild of America where she was nationally published for her Top Smocking award. She was a breeder of Bedlington Terriers that became Champion, Group, and Best in Show dogs. She is survived by her beloved husband, Ellis A. Hiltz, Sr.; four loving children, Ellis A. Hiltz, Jr. (Drew) and his spouse Dawn, Jennifer Ellis, Craig W. Hiltz and his spouse Mark O’Brien and Elizabeth Hiltz Thomas; grandchildren, Elizabeth Ellis, Peter Yankowski, Mackenzie Hiltz, Ellis Andrew Hiltz, III and his spouse Katelyn Moore, and Amelie Thomas; step grandchildren, Katelyn O’Brien and her spouse Erinn O’Connell and Kevin O’Brien; great grandchildren, Jude Ellis Hiltz and Torsten Aksel Ruccione.
