Sally Stevens Rowe, age 99, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late William Cardyn Rowe, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Born in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late Robert and Marian (Jennings) Baird, she was a lifelong area resident.
Sally attended Bassick High School and worked in the Corporate Office at the Bullard Company where she would meet her future husband. She and William were married in 1949. After raising their five children, Sally went to work at her husband’s business, Tunxis Hill Pharmacy, assisting with the day to day operations. After Bill sold the business, Sally worked for a period of time at Lupe’s Drug Store.
Sally will be affectionately remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her family.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Wendy Cardyn Rowe of Trumbull; two sons, William Frederick Rowe and his partner Elizabeth Mann of Easton and David Jennings Rowe of Newtown; two grandsons, Keith Cardyn Placko and his partner Jennifer and Kyle Paul Placko and his wife Kristin; a son-in-law, Kenneth Placko of Fairfield; three great-grandchildren, Hayden, Michael and Lucy Placko; two nieces, Donna Berlanda and Eileen Baird, and a nephew, John Berlanda. In addition to her husband, Sally was predeceased by two daughters, Cynthia Placko of Fairfield and Allison Rowe of Bethlehem; a sister, Maryalice Berlanda and three brothers, Hugh Baird, Robert Baird and Thomas Baird.
All services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, friends may consider a donation in Sally’s memory to The American Cancer Society, P.O.
