Ronald A. Luther, 92, of Ansonia, passed away peacefully at home on October 30, 2025.
Ron was born on August 10,1933 in Montreal, Canada to Edmund Luther and Wanda (Gross) Luther. Speaking only German, Ron began elementary school in Canada and then moved with his family to Fairfield, Connecticut in 1948. After honorably serving in the United States Army, Ron began a successful career in the automotive industry. In 1969 he opened his own business, Luther’s Garage, Inc. which performed both engine and body repairs. He wrote and voiced his own radio commercials highlighting his slogan, “Luther’s Garage, headlight to taillight”. Ron was an ingenious craftsman known for his creativity in constructing specialized tools for anything from straightening car frames to splitting firewood. Ron retired in 2005 after selling his business. Ron’s craftsmanship was also displayed through the construction of a vacation cabin in Vermont using lumber harvested from the property. The cabin became a favored destination for Ron and his family. He truly enjoyed spending time there with family, including extended family, as well as friends. Ron was fun loving, humorous, kind hearted and always ready to lend a helping hand. He looked at each day as an adventure.
Ron’s deep faith guided everything he did; he served others selflessly, shared the love of Christ in word and action, and brought many to know Jesus through his compassion and steadfast devotion. He was a long time member of Black Rock Church, happily serving there in many capacities.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of nearly 67 years, Emma Pudimat Luther, his children Debi (Joe) Plitnick, Linda (Tim) Kanuch, his grandsons, Ryan (Ina) Plitnick, Colin Kanuch, and his great grandson Easton Plitnick, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving daughter, Tammy Luther of Hyannis, MA, his brother Edmund Luther of Irving, TX, and his brother Harry Luther of Shelton, CT.
Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, November 8 at 10 AM at Lawncroft Cemetery, 1740 Black Rock Tpke., Fairfield. A Memorial service will be held at 11 AM at Black Rock Church Easton, 29 Church Rd, Easton, CT.
