Robert Leon Smith

Robert L. Smith, age 80, of Fairfield, beloved husband of 55 years to Patricia (Woods) Smith, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 10, 2026 at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded in love by his family. Born in Norwalk, the son of the late Henry and Viola Smith, he had been a Fairfield resident for the last 55 years. Bob retired from Heim Bearings in Fairfield following 30 years of service as a Machine Operator, and proudly served as a Union Representative. He enjoyed off-roading in northern Connecticut, fishing, hiking, car racing and travelling. In addition to his loving wife Pat, he will be sadly missed by his daughter, Monika M. Smith-Rodriguez and her husband Alvin of Bridgeport, a son, Robert Michael Smith, Sr. of Fairfield; three grandchildren, Robert Michael Smith, Jr. of Kansas City, KS, Anthony E. Walker, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth Palmer Walker of Watertown and Michael Robert Smith of Ansonia; a great-granddaughter Lainey Smith and nieces and nephews.
