Robert J. Falchek

Robert J. Falchek, affectionately known as “Bob” or “Bobby”, age 83, of Bridgeport, Connecticut passed away on June 13, 2026 after valiantly fighting a brief illness.

Bob was born in Stamford, Connecticut to the late Joseph and Sophie (Ostrowski) Falchek. He graduated from J.M Wright Technical School in 1959 and went on to work for over 30 years in the United States Postal Service as a mailman. During his tenure at the USPS, Bob received multiple awards for his continued dedication to his work, the most prestigious of which was the Civil Service Award. He also made many friends throughout his career, both human and canine alike (the latter was achieved with the help of the multiple treats he carried with him while he went along his mail routes).

He married his loving wife, Eileen, in 1986 and they decided to leave Stamford to settle down in Bridgeport shortly thereafter.

During his 30 year career as a mailman, Bob also managed to find time to indulge in his passion- golf. His love for golf started at a young age. He became interested in the sport as a young boy; at 10 years old he started caddying, and at age 12 he started playing. He was a regular golf caddy at Innis Arden Golf Club in Old Greenwich for over 40 years. In his retirement, he continued to caddy at multiple clubs in the area, including: Woodway Country Club, Wee Burn Country Club, and Aspetuck Valley Country Club. He was also a starter at Silvermine Golf Club for 27 years before his passing.

Bob was beloved by all and will be fondly remembered for his endless kindness and corny jokes which, at times, were actually funny.

He is survived by his sister Dorothy Mary Woods, several nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, along with many other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Eileen, and his parents.

Friends and family may come to pay their respects on Tuesday, June 23rd from 9 - 10am at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place the same day at 11am at Our Lady of Grace Parish, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford CT. Burial will follow at Mountain Grove Cemetery, 2675 North Avenue, Bridgeport CT.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bob's memory to either a local animal shelter or a cancer society of one’s choice.
