Peter D. Wood Jr.

Peter “Pete” Davie Wood Jr., 62, of Clinton, Connecticut, entered eternal rest on April 11, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and enduring connections. He was born on August 8, 1963, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to the late Peter Davie Wood Sr. and Elizabeth (Crowley) Goodhue.

Pete grew up in Shelton, Connecticut, and was a proud graduate of Shelton High School. He went on to earn his electrician’s license through Bullard-Havens Technical High School and dedicated over 20 years of service to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, where he took great pride in his work. He later concluded his career as a Facilities Director at the University of Hartford.

In his younger years, Pete had a deep passion for music and proudly played in drum corps—an experience that remained close to his heart throughout his life. He also had a lifelong love for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and the sense of freedom they brought him. In recent years, he especially cherished traveling with his fiancée, Lori, creating meaningful memories together.

A devoted father, Pete was deeply involved in his sons’ lives. He served as a Cub Master and coached both baseball and football, building lasting memories and strong bonds within his family and community.

Beyond his immediate family, Pete treasured his time with those closest to him. He shared a special friendship with his best friend, Paul Blum, and loved spending time with his goddaughters, Lauren and Sydney Blum. He also held lifelong friendships with JJ and Doris Ayers, whom he adored—especially JJ, his motorcycle brother, with whom he spent countless hours riding. Pete shared a unique and cherished bond with his cousin, Lisa Cioffi; together they could laugh, joke, and talk for hours about anything and everything. He also looked forward to gatherings with the Wood Cousins Clan, where stories, laughter, and memories were shared. In recent years, he grew especially close to Lori’s warm and welcoming family.

Pete was a loving partner, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He shared a deeply cherished life with his fiancée, Lorraine “Lori” Mazzella, whose companionship meant the world to him. He was a proud father to his sons: Michael Wood (girlfriend Alyssa Babb) of Derby, CT and Jason Wood (wife Michelle Wood) of Oxford, CT. He found immense joy in being a grandfather to his beloved granddaughter, Elizabeth Moura Wood. He is also survived by his sisters: Sandra Rogers of Virginia and Gail Hughes of Southbury, along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews who will remember him fondly. Pete was predeceased by parents, his son John Thomas Wood, and his brother-in-law Donald Rogers.

He will be remembered for his strength, his deep love for his family, and the meaningful way he showed up for those he cared about. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited to honor Peter’s life and memory in their own personal ways, holding close the moments and memories they shared with him.

Family and friends may come to pay their respects on Thursday, April 16 from 4 to 7pm at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield CT.
