Peter F. Suchy, age 74, of Fairfield, CT, passed away peacefully at home on May 19, 2026,surrounded by his loving family. Peter was born May 7,1952 in New Haven, CT. Peter was preceded in death by his parents Anthony John Suchy, Sr. and Mildred LaPointe Suchy, brother Anthony John “Tony” Suchy, Jr. who is survived by his wife Becky of Virginia Beach, VA.
Peter grew up in North Haven, CT and lived on Barton Circle. Peter was a 1974 graduate of Babson College in Wellesley, MA. Upon graduation, Peter, along with college friends, traveled to and thoroughly enjoyed exploring Greece. Peter worked under the tutelage of Mr. Jack Newstadt, one of New England’s most accomplished gemologists, as well as his education and repair background have helped him build one of the finest appraisal departments. With more than 20 years as a bench jeweler, Peter acquired a unique perspective as a jewelry designer. Prior to establishing Peter Suchy Jewelers in Stamford, Peter’s store was located in Forty Boutiques in the Ridgeway Shopping Center. As a young business owner, Peter put an emphasis on first and foremost, establishing and maintaining honest, solid relationships with his clientele. This became the foundation of Peter Suchy Jewelers. Peter was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, The Better Business Bureau, Jewelers Security Alliance, National Federation of Independent Businesses and the Jewelers Board of Trade. The store consistently won Best of the Gold Coast and Best of Connecticut for Estate Jewelery. Peter was named as one of the official consultants by the Connecticut State Attorney’s Office. Peter prided himself on his personal standards of honesty and integrity. He spent the last 30 plus years building his business one transaction and one client at a time. Each and every client was important to him. Peter was part of every item he sold and highly enjoyed passing on each piece to a new owner. The appreciation, surprises, engagements and “wow” factor were what made his day; each and every day. Peter’s greatest accomplishment and pleasure in life was his family. Peter was the beloved husband of Kathleen Searles Suchy for 47 years and a devoted father of Chris (Rolita) and Patty (Ricardo). Also surviving are his sister Cathy of Bethany, CT, brother Stephen (Barbara) of Guilford, CT, numerous nieces and nephews.
As the proud owner and operator of Peter Suchy Jewelers in Stamford, CT, Peter shared his passion for fine jewelry, craftsmanship, and personal service with the community for more than 30 years. Peter was devout member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 160 Hill Farm Road, Fairfield, CT 06824. Peter attended the Adult Discussion Talks weekly and shared many interesting stories, historical knowledge and indulged conversations where he has been described as an “exploratory theorist” focusing on abstract, theoretical or philosophical concepts. Peter happily sharedhis love of crystals, historical artifacts and unique jewelry with fellow parishioners. Peter took great pleasure in supporting his friend Pat Heavren at her Living Source Sanctuary located in Hamden, CT. Peter lived with and managed his heart disease which began in his 30’s and for the last eight years, was an LVAD patient. Peter “fought the good fight, he finished the race and he kept the faith.”
