Michael Frank Piazza, age 82, of Milford and formerly of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Michael Salvatore Piazza and Margaret (Barrett) Piazza, and a lifelong Fairfield resident known as a true man-about-town. Mike graduated from St. Ann’s Catholic School and Fairfield College Preparatory School, Class of 1961 where he was class treasurer, before earning his BS in Accounting from Bryant College. Although he began his career in accounting, he soon found his true calling in real estate development. He was often seen driving between job sites in his Corvette, enjoying a favorite cigar while greeting everyone with a warm smile and a story.
Mike remained deeply connected to Fairfield Prep and took great pride in continuing that legacy through his family. He was especially proud of his son Chris, a member of the Fairfield Prep Class of 2006 who went on to start his career at Lenovo in China, and of his daughter Lena, who graduated from Lauralton Hall and went on to earn her commission from the United States Coast Guard Academy. He was an active member of the Latin Scholars, a group of Prep graduates who gathered each December for lunch, and a devoted friend of Bill W.
He will be sadly missed by his loving and devoted wife, Bonnie (Kruger) Piazza of Milford; his beloved daughter, Lena Michele Piazza and her son, Matteo Michael Rispoli of Weston, FL; his loving son, Christopher Michael Piazza, and his favorite daughter-in-law, Ada of Tequisquiapan, Mexico, who both currently reside in Raleigh, NC, his brother, Anthony Piazza and his wife Patricia of Cos Cob, CT; his sister, Mary Piazza of Grassy Creek, North Carolina; his sister-in-law, Carol Piazza of Falmouth, MA; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Piazza.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 149 S. Pine Creek Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may greet the family Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, friends may consider a donation in Michael’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 (www.alz.org).
