Mary Jane Harwood

Mary Jane Harwood, age 98, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late John (Jack) Harwood, passed away peacefully Friday, April 18, 2025. Born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Willard and Irene Barber, Jane had been a Fairfield resident for over 90 years. She attended Roger Ludlowe High School. Jane was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to engage in conversation and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed sitting on her porch on Birch Road watching people heading to the beach. She will be sadly missed by her three children, John E. Harwood and his wife Gina of Hawthorne, NY, Brian W. Harwood of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Eileen Judd and her husband Brian of Fairfield; four grandchildren, Zachary, Joseph (Kathy), Taylor (Gabrielle) and Courtney (Ryan); eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Jack, she was predeceased by a sister, Ellen McKenna and two brothers, Willard Barber and Ted Barber. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Friends may greet the family Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
