With heartfelt reflection, we announce the passing of Martin James Keiser Jr., lovingly known as Marty, on Father’s Day, June 15, 2025, at the age of 72. Marty passed peacefully, surrounded by his family, leaving a legacy of love, integrity, and resilience.
Born to Martin James Keiser Sr. and Alaine Mildred Keiser (Bouvier), Marty’s early years were shaped by adversity, yet it was his unyielding strength, integrity, and deep faith that defined his path. Marty’s resilience carried him through life’s obstacles and into a future he built for his family through hard work and dedication.
Marty cherished his education at Holy Family School, Notre Dame High School, and Sacred Heart University, schools that shaped many of his values in a town that he loved dearly throughout his life. His passion for business led him to become the driving force behind Fairfield Asphalt Paving, a company that he built and nurtured for over 40 years; establishing the business as a central part of the community and building a personal reputation known for his honest approach and commitment to excellence. Marty was responsible for paving tens of thousands of residential driveways in town throughout the years but took particular enjoyment in being a trusted paving partner for local schools and golf courses, and for many years enjoyed selling Christmas trees in town during the off-season; a testament to his passion for leaving a positive impact and creating spaces for children and his fellow citizens to enjoy.
In that vein, Marty had a deep passion for golf, a sport he loved and excelled in, winning multiple club championships as an active and devoted member of the H. Smith Richardson Men’s Club. He made several hole-in-ones, won several local and regional tournaments throughout his life, and cherished the natural beauty and stillness of a golf course, rain or shine. His skill was self-taught, and his natural talent was well known and revered by all. Marty’s love for the game was also a reflection of his character—gracious, humble, and always willing to support others, even in competition. His generosity extended beyond the golf course, where he had an innate ability to lift others up and make them feel valued.
In addition to his fondness for golf, Marty enjoyed serenading his family with his beautiful singing voice and had a life-long passion for movies, a love he shared with his entire family, including grandchildren. He particularly favored movies with themes of wonder and adventure—movies that spoke to his childlike imagination, courageous spirit, and appreciation for deep, meaningful stories.
Marty’s true legacy, however, lies in his love for his family. Falling in love at first sight 45 years ago in 1980, Marty’s marriage to Sharon Keiser was a fairytale story rooted in unwavering devotion and partnership. Together, they raised a family founded on love, trust, and faith. Marty’s devotion to his children was unparalleled, always prioritizing time with his family over his own personal pursuits. He worked long hours to provide for them, but he never missed a family dinner or a moment that would allow him to be present for his loved ones.
Marty’s passing on Father’s Day was a fitting tribute to the man he was—a devoted father, a loving husband, and a dedicated family man. His legacy of kindness, compassion, hard work, and loyalty will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Marty is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon R. Keiser (Ricker) of Monroe, Connecticut; his daughter Sarah Webster, her husband Jeff and their two children Nolan and Winifred of Monroe, Connecticut; His son Martin J. Keiser III, his wife Katie and their three children Lilly, Ava and Pippa of Newport Beach, California; and his daughter Amy Keiser of Los Angeles, California.
A Celebration of Life will be held at one o’clock in the afternoon on July 25, 2025, at Southport Congregational Church, where family and friends will gather to honor a life well-lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The First Tee Foundation, an organization dedicated to youth development through golf, in memory of Martin’s love for the game and his dedication to sharing it with others.
