Marsha E. Carfi, 78, of Oxford, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, Marsha lived a life defined by kindness, strength, and an unwavering dedication to those she cherished most.
Marsha was the beloved wife of 56 years to George Carfi, her partner in a lifetime of love, laughter, and adventure that began with a blind double date and grew into a beautiful, enduring bond. Together, they built a family rooted in love and connection.
Born on November 19, 1947, in Bridgeport Connecticut, to the late Carl and Lillian (Lucas) Wood, Marsha carried forward the values of compassion, curiosity, and resilience throughout her life. She dedicated her professional career to shaping young minds as a social studies teacher, leaving a lasting impact on countless students. Yet, to those who knew and loved her, her role in the classroom was only one part of who she was—her true legacy lives in the lives she touched beyond it.
In addition to her loving husband George, Marsha is survived by her children and their spouses: Christopher (Leigh) Carfi, Stacey (Dr. Andrew) Stec, and Gina (Nathan) Fox. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to Logan, Liam, Hudson, Lyla, and Eli, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy. She is also survived by George’s siblings, Dominick (Jennie) Carfi and Annette Lipwich and her partner Tony Teixeira, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Marsha was predeceased by her brother, Donald Wood.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, 733 Oxford Road, Oxford. Inurnment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Marsha’s generous spirit.
Marsha’s love will continue to live on in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
