Marion Eleanor Christensen

Marion Eleanor Christensen of Lake Ozark, Missouri, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and woman of Christian faith, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 29, 2026 at age 94. She passed away peacefully at home in Eldon, MO with her son Peter by her side.

Born in September 1931 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Frank and Helen Kerlo, Marion was raised in Fairfield CT and later attended nursing school in Chicago, Illinois. After graduation, she was a surgical assistant at Bridgeport Hospital. In 1953, she married Rev. Alan Brian Christensen, and shared 50 years of marriage and four children. Together, they built a life centered on ministry at the church Pastor Christensen founded, Hope Evangelical Church in Wilton, Connecticut for 27 years.

As a pastor’s wife, Marion played a vital, though often unseen, role in the life of Hope Evangelical Church. She supported the women’s ministries, hosted church picnics, baptisms and gatherings at their home, and steadily attended weekly services. Her faithful presence and easy going nature were a blessing to those who knew her. In later years, Marion enjoyed painting, bird watching, and sitting near the lake in the Ozarks. Marion was predeceased by her beloved husband, Rev. Alan Brian Christensen, and by her daughter, Pamela Joy Macek. She is remembered by her children Paul, Peter, and Patricia, as well as her six grandchildren.

A public viewing will be held at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield CT on Wednesday, August 5 2026 from 11 - 12:30pm, with a brief service beginning at 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to be made in Marion’s memory to Hope Evangelical Church.
