Louis Payne

Louis "Lou" Payne, 89, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, in Fairfield, Connecticut.

Born on August 4, 1936, in Hudson, New York, Lou led a life defined by dedication and service. He served his country as a veteran of the United States Military before beginning a long and steady career with the Southern New England Telephone Company. His strong work ethic and commitment were evident throughout his professional life.

Lou was a devoted father and grandfather to his four daughters: Lori Durham, Jill Payne, Karen Payne, Cindy Manware and 6 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wives, Vera Payne and Angela Doyle. His role as a father was central to his life, and he was known for his loving nature and steadfast support.

In his personal time, Lou enjoyed sports and gardening. Whether tending to his garden or following his favorite teams, these pastimes brought him joy and relaxation.

His memory will be cherished by those who knew him—as a father, a friend, and a man of quiet strength.
