Kathleen "Kathy" Bryk

Kathleen Ann “Kathy” Bryk, 80, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday September 25, 2026. Kathy was the beloved wife of Raymond Bryk with whom she shared a marriage built on love and respect. She was born in Bridgeport on January 11, 1946 to the late Stephen and Catherine Vajanyi Tovish.

A graduate of Andrew Warde High School, Kathy turned her joy and talent of cooking into a career; she was the head cook for many years at Fairfield Country Day School. Kathy also was a well known assistant pharmacist at Fairmart pharmacy. She was a member of: the Bessemer seniors at United Church of Christ in Bridgeport; Seniors of the Rock at Black Rock Church, and the Easton Senior Center. Kathy loved to cook for family and friends, especially at the UCC picnics, where she was one of the few women to help the men make kolbasz. She could also be found in her garden or arranging flowers. Her greatest joy was being with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, Raymond, she is survived by her son Keith and his wife Michon of Thayne, WY and Estes Park, CO.. She also leaves her step-sister Nancy Trupp, her dear cousin Charles Magyar and his wife Rita, her dear friend Claudia Margitay-Balogh, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her son Robert “Bobby” Bryk, her parents, Stephen and Catherine, her step-father William Toth, her brother Richard Tovish, her step-sister Linda Toth, her grandmother Katherine Vajanyi, with whom she shared a very special bond with.

Friends and family may visit at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Rd on Sunday October 4 from 2-5PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday October 5 at 10AM at The United Church of Christ, 2180 North St Bridgeport, CT. Burial will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.
