Joseph John Monopoli Jr. passed away peacefully in his home state of Connecticut on July 23, 2025, at the age of 82, just days before the 10th anniversary of the passing of his beloved wife, Marianne.
Born in Harlem, New York, Joe was the son of Joseph Sr. and Angela Monopoli, and the beloved brother of Adrienne Brazier and the late Nicholas Monopoli. He built a life defined by devotion to his family, an unwavering work ethic, and a sharp sense of humor that never faded.
Joe was a hardworking business owner and provider, known for his steadiness and his generous heart. But more than anything, he kept everyone laughing. His warmth and endless supply of quick wit made him beloved not only by his family, but by all those around him, even his nurses and aides.
He was the devoted father of Michele (Scott), Melissa (Chris), and Joseph Jr. (Lori), and the proud grandfather of eight adoring grandchildren. (Matthew, Jack, Jason, Alex, Max, Scott, Carli, and Cecelia.) Whether driving them to school, dancing with them as babies, or simply living alongside them through their growing years, “Pop-Pop” was always present and always cheering them on.
Joe loved sitting outside with music playing, and above all else loved to be surrounded by his family. He found joy in simple pleasures—and spread that joy generously.
A private service was held by his immediate family, as he wished.
In honor of his memory, sit outside today. Put on some music. Tell a joke. And smile.
