John "Jack" Williams

John Clarke Williams, age 95, of Fairfield CT passed peacefully Sunday, August 17, 2025.

“Jack” was born April 8, 1930, in Stepney CT to the late Amelia Woodin Williams and Ernest C. Williams. He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Muriel Blackadar Williams, his daughters, Deborah Stebbins (Charles), Leslie Fitzgerald, Wendy Mears (Dean). He also leaves his grandchildren, Kelly Blain (Zachary), Kathleen Raymond (Joshua), Emily Stebbins, Matthew Stebbins (Kristen), Patrick Fitzgerald, Rebecca Fitzgerald (fiancé Byron) and great grandsons Theo, Alex, Jack and Cooper. He also leaves his sister, Gene Kaechele of Brookfield, CT. Jack was predeceased by his sister Jane Sherman and brother Richard Williams and leaves many nieces and nephews.

After many years of growing up and in living in Monroe, CT, he met the love of his life, Muriel, and they were married Dec, 29, 1951. After a short NYC honeymoon, Jack began his time serving as a Marine during the Korean War. Not long afterwards, he and Muriel began building their family full of love. Jack enjoyed holiday celebrations, picnics and gatherings of any kind whether at a pool, lake, backyard or any opportunity to connect with loved ones and friends.

As a former member of Trinity Church in Southport, CT and a member of the Masonic Fidelity Lodge of Fairfield, Jack volunteered and built lasting relationships strengthening his community bonds.

In addition to working most of his career with the Overhead Door Company of Norwalk, Jack spent a lifetime enjoying his passion for building and creative woodworking. He masterfully built the addition to his home, a vacation house in VT, as well as created various pieces of furniture and projects to be treasured by his family and friends.

During his moments of relaxation, Jack enjoyed being outdoors, whether fishing, working in the yard, teeing off on the golf course, as well as playing cards, puzzles galore and sharing both laughter and a little friendly competition around the table. Those who knew Jack will remember him as a fun loving, friendly and endlessly giving man whose talents were many, whose heart was even greater and whose presence made everyone’s life richer.

Most recently, in a move to Assisted Living, Jack enjoyed new activities, made new friends and continued his devotion as a loving caregiver to Muriel, showing the same patience, kindness and deep devotion that defined his entire life.

Jack’s legacy will live on in the love he shared and the lessons he taught, and the countless lives he touched.
