Elizabeth Sweeney Mingey

Elizabeth S. Mingey, 64, of Shelton, Connecticut, formerly of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, after a brief illness, surrounded by the love of her family.

Elizabeth, lovingly known as “Beth,” was the beloved daughter of the late James and Joan Homa of Fairfield, Connecticut; a caring sister to Matthew Sweeney and Karen Toms; and the devoted wife of the late Timothy Mingey. She brought warmth and a radiant spirit to everyone who knew her.

Beth’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted and loving mother to Kevin Allen, James Allen, Katherine Allen and her partner Brandon Hess, as well as a proud grandmother to Ava, River, and Devitt. She welcomed Erin and Megan Mingey into her heart as devoted stepdaughters, embracing every role with the same generous spirit. The laughter, patience, and unwavering love she poured into her family created a home filled with warmth, security, and countless precious memories.

Finding peace by the water, Beth cherished her moments at the lake and on the beach. A Fairfield native, she spent many years at Fairfield and Sasco Beach with her loved ones. She also treasured vacation memories in Panama City, Vermont, Lake George, and other places where her calm presence and thoughtful nature left lasting impressions on those fortunate enough to share them.

Beth’s kindness, infectious laughter, and generous heart touched all who knew her. Her memory remains as a loving reminder to live with intention, compassion, and courage.

A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held at a later date to honor the profound love she shared and the many lives she brightened.
