Edith A. Zambo

Edith Zambo, 89, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 6, 2026. She was the beloved wife of Steven Zambo.

Edith was born in Budapest, Hungary on February 20, 1937, to the late Istvan and Ida Varjas Gyenge. As a young woman, she immigrated to the United States, where she began a new chapter of her life and made her home in Connecticut.

Her greatest joy was always her family. Edith was a loving wife, mother, and a deeply devoted grandmother who treasured the time she spent with those she loved most. She especially enjoyed being part of the everyday moments, celebrations, and memories that made family life so meaningful to her.

She had a creative spirit and found happiness in crafting and art. She loved sharing a good joke, telling stories, and reminiscing about her life in Hungary. Edith will be remembered for her kind and generous heart, warmth, quiet strength, and the love she gave so freely to the people around her. Her faith was also an important part of her life, and she was an active member of her local church.

In addition to her husband, Steven, she is survived by her daughter, Erika and son-in-law, Kevin Kiley. She was a proud and loving Grammy to Aidan and Erin. She also leaves behind her brother, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends in both Connecticut and Hungary.

Family and friends may visit the Spear-Miller Funeral Home on Monday, April 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be a private ceremony at Lawncroft Cemetery in Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Operation Hope, 636 Old Post Rd. Fairfield, CT, 06824.
