Dorothy Brewster (Jenkins) Schroeder, age 85 of Bridgeport, formerly of Fairfield, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 25, 2026. Born in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Dorothy Brewster Wilder, she had been a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Stratfield School, Andrew Warde High School and Butler Business School. Dorothy began her career in administrative work at J.C. Bradley Insurance Company and also worked as an administrative assistant in the Legal Department at General Electric and concluded her career as a Paralegal for the law office of Richard Saxl.
Dorothy loved to sing and was a member of the Fairfield County Chorale, sang in the choir at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bridgeport and St. Pius X Church in Fairfield and also sang in the Watermark at 3030 Park chorus after relocating there. She and her late husband, Donald Schroeder loved travelling together around the world.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth W. Brewster, Jr.; twin sister, Diane Brewster Kirschenman, a nephew Kenneth Kirschenman and her two husbands, Skip Jenkins and Donald Schroeder.
She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews, Kimberly Brewster and her husband David Zief and their daughter Julianna; Amy Brewster; Kenny Brewster and his wife Lynda Torrens and their children Lindsey and Allison, Keith Brewster and his wife Betzaide and their children Brian and Valerie, Scott Brewster and his wife Marci and their children Jordon and Angela, Michele Brewster and Eric Kirschenman; her late husband, Don’s children, Mark Schroeder and his wife Cyndi, David Schroeder and his wife Mary Beth and their children Klaus, Shane, Cara and Jimmy; James Schroeder and his wife Rose and their children Tyler, Ethan and Sam, and Karen Schroeder Stephens and her husband Richard and their children Hadley, Cooper and Morgan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 31, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield.
