Dorothy Arlene Albrecht (Dengate), 101, of Fairfield, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, in Fairfield.

Dorothy was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Herbert and Pearl Dengate. She built a life defined by devotion to family, curiosity about the world, and steadfast faith.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George John Albrecht (“Red”), and her daughter, Janis Lane Albrecht. Dorothy is survived by her sons Dave Randall Albrecht and his wife Lorraine, and Scott Daren Albrecht and his wife Jane. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Ashlee Anderson, Jessie Brower, Amber Gould, Emily Simon, and Jaden Albrecht, and a cherished great-grandmother to Avery, Abbie, Ethan, Ben, and Reed.

Dorothy retired from General Electric, where she worked for many years, while also dedicating herself wholeheartedly to her role as a homemaker and matriarch of her family. She was known for her warmth, strength, and quiet determination.

An avid world traveler, Dorothy embraced life with a sense of adventure that took her across the globe, including a remarkable journey to Antarctica, a testament to her fearless spirit and love of exploration even later in life.

Her faith was a guiding force, and she was a devoted member of Fairfield Grace Methodist Church in Fairfield, Connecticut, where she found community, comfort, and purpose.

Dorothy’s life spanned more than a century, leaving behind generations shaped by her love, wisdom, and example. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
