Carol Jean Throndson

Carol Jean Throndson of Fairfield, CT, passed away on July 4, 2025, at the age of 49, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Her departure was far too soon, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Born on January 19, 1976, in Bloomington, MN, Carol was the cherished daughter of Beverly and Dale Throndson. She graduated from Kennedy High School and went on to earn a degree in psychology from Hanover College in Indiana. Shortly after graduation, Carol moved to Minneapolis, where she met her best friend and the love of her life, Todd Koehnke. Together, they had two beautiful daughters, Michaela (19) and Samantha (15). Carol was an extraordinary mother, raising her daughters with an abundance of love, resilience, and strength.

Carol was known for her infectious zest for life—her energy lit up every room, and she embraced each day with laughter, joy, and a sense of adventure that inspired those around her. She loved to travel, even spending time living abroad after college, and cherished every opportunity to be with family. She loved the water and the beach where she could paddle board to clear her mind. Carol had an incredible ability to find humor in life’s little moments. She also had a deeply reflective side, often seeking meaning in life’s experiences and working on her spiritual growth.

A natural leader with a talent for sales, Carol spent much of her career in medical sales, most recently employed by Neurent Medical. Throughout her career, she worked closely with surgeons in fields ranging from bariatrics, urology, to ear, nose, and throat (ENT).

Carol is survived by her husband, Todd, and their two children, Michaela and Samantha. She is also survived by her father, Dale Throndson (Grafton, WI), her brother Dave (Colleen) Throndson, along with Ronan, Shari, and Autumn (Melbourne, FL), and her sister-in-law, Jen Throndson (Cedarburg, WI), along with Halle, Ava, and Rhys. She was preceded in death by her brother, Doug Throndson, and her mother, Bev Throndson.

Let the joy and light of every Fourth of July remind us of Carol—the laughter, the warmth, and the way she made life feel like a celebration.

A Celebration of Life service will take place on August 9th from 12-2pm at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield CT.
