Carmine Santandrea

Carmine Santandrea lived his life convinced that almost anything was possible.

Born in New York, Carmine grew up in an entrepreneurial family and spent much of his career building businesses, creating ideas, and bringing people together. He began his professional life with his older brother Jim, later joined by his brothers Joe and Larry, in a family venture that grew during the exciting and transformative years of New York City's communications, advertising, and corporate marketing boom. Carmine soon branched out to create businesses of his own, producing corporate films, events, presentations, and marketing programs, eventually including ScentAndrea, a venture built around his belief that scent could become a powerful tool for communication and promotion.

While he was known for his business success, those who knew him understood that his real gift was not selling products or services—it was helping people see possibilities. He was endlessly curious about others and genuinely interested in their stories, ideas, and perspectives. Whether speaking with a CEO, a colleague, a friend, or someone he had just met, Carmine had a remarkable ability to connect, listen, and imagine what could be. His optimism was contagious, and his enthusiasm for new ideas never faded.

Blessed with striking blue eyes, a warm smile, and the gift of conversation, Carmine rarely met a stranger. He believed people were far more interesting than their labels, backgrounds, or opinions, and he approached life with an open mind and a genuine desire to understand others. More often than not, a chance conversation became a friendship.

Later in life, Carmine found lasting happiness with his beloved wife, Caroline. Together they built a life in Stamford, Connecticut, before eventually settling in Santa Barbara, California. There, while Caroline brought her London advertising experience to a successful real estate career, Carmine continued doing what he loved most: sharing ideas, telling stories, meeting people, and imagining what might come next.

Carmine was preceded in death by his wife Caroline and his brothers Jim and Larry. He is survived by his brother Joe; his son, Edward Santandrea; daughter-in-law, Mary Joan Santandrea; grandsons Nicolas Santandrea and Paul Santandrea; and many friends, colleagues, and extended family members whose lives were made brighter by his enthusiasm, kindness, and belief in human potential.

Those who knew Carmine will remember a man who never stopped dreaming, never stopped connecting, and never stopped believing that tomorrow could be better than today.
