Bernard “Bernie” Michael Ferri, 76, passed peacefully on June 7, 2026 at his sister’s home in Shelton after a brief illness.
Bernie was born on March 4, 1950 in White Plains, NY to Margaret Ferri (nee Boerio) and Henry Ferri. He graduated from White Plains High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant in 1973. Bernie then went on to a highly successful career with IBM, retiring in 2015.
During his life he was a passionate fan of Jazz Music, beach outings and the Vietnam Veterans Association. When he was no longer able to travel to Church, Bernie watched EWTN and read many books on his devout Catholic Faith.
Bernie is survived by his brother, Ronald and his wife, Barbara and his caregiver and sister, Lisa. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Mary Ferri. Bernie adored his nieces and nephews and is survived by April Furey, Amanda Ferri (Kim Moynihan), Alicia Smigiel (Adrian), Christopher Ferri, Ryan Ferri (Rebecca), Robert Ferri (Christi). He is also survived by his great nieces and nephews, Faith Furey, Grace Furey, O’Connor Furey, Sadie Ferri and Everlee Pagano.
His parents, Margaret and Henry, predeceased him in 2002. Two brothers, Robert Ferri and Dr. Richard Ferri both died in 2021. His wife, Kathy died in 2025.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1719 Post Rd, Fairfield, CT 06824 on Friday, June 19th at 11am. Arrangements are being handled by Spear Miller Funeral Home. Interment will be private and held on a later date.
Donations can be made in memory of Bernard Ferri to the Gary Sinise Foundation; an organization that serves our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need.
