Barbara B. Herman

Barbara B. Herman, 87, of Bridgeport, Connecticut passed away peacefully at home on June 4, 2025. Barbara was born in Meriden, Connecticut on October 27, 1937 to the late Andrew and Margaret Lisnay Herman.

Barbara graduated from Roger Ludlowe High School before enrolling in the nursing program at Bridgeport Hospital, where she was a devoted caretaker in the emergency department for many years. She was always a beautiful caring and giving person, and you were blessed if you knew her. She loved and maintained so many friendships with her colleagues from Bridgeport Hospital and would share fond memories of them with her family. She enjoyed daily outings to the local stores and restaurants where everyone knew her by name. She was blessed to be a member of her church community and enjoyed her Bible study. Being proud of her Hungarian heritage, she was able to share stories and experiences with her family who will forever remember them. She was so fond of her family and cherished spending time with them. She even learned to use technology in order to keep in touch with them when apart.

Barbara was the loving aunt (“Auntie”) to: Thea (Tom) Boyle, Scott (Kris) Tyimok, Stuart (Pam) Tyimok, and Gregory (Ann) Tyimok. She was the proud great-aunt to: Ryan, Mallory, Travis, Amanda, Addison, and Conner. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Ted Tyimok.

Family and friends may visit at the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Rd, Fairfield on Monday June 9 from 3-6PM. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday June 10 at 10AM at First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Rd., Fairfield, Connecticut. Interment in Mt. Grove Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Church Congregational.
