Anita L. Myers

Anita Lewin Myers, born on February 15, 1937, in Huancayo, Peru, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, at the age of 89. She was predeceased by her parents, Lea and Nathan Lewin; her brothers, Salomon and Abraham Lewin; her sister, Ita Durchfort; her husband, Kenneth Randall “Randy” Myers; and her son, Kenneth Gross. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Sara Abramson and Berta Lewin; her children, Karen (Jim) and Benjamin (Cherry); her six grandchildren, Adam (Chrissy), Emma, Ian, Jagger, Breslin, and Morgan; and her three great-grandchildren, Mia, Maddie, and Emilee. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives she touched. In 1956, at the age of 19, Anita immigrated to the United States, first settling in Queens, New York. After marrying her first husband, Charles Gross, she made her home in Roslyn Heights, New York, where she raised her three children: Kenneth, Karen, and Benjamin; and met Randy, her beloved husband of 28 years. Throughout her life, Anita also lived in Alexandria and Arlington, Virginia; St. Augustine, Florida; and Fairfield, Connecticut, embracing each community with warmth and an open heart. Anita was a deeply spiritual woman who found strength and peace through her Christian faith, as well as through the practices of yoga and meditation. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, tending her garden, caring for her cats throughout the years - including Butterfly, Cyrus, Nellie, Misha, and Motley - taking leisurely drives, and watching the sunset with her granddog, Chanel, by her side. A devoted lover of music, she was a longtime season ticket holder to the Greater Bridgeport Symphony. She also generously volunteered her time through her church, where she found great joy in helping others. Independent in her thinking and lifestyle, incredibly loving, kind, and good-natured, she inspired others and made many close and meaningful friendships. A beloved parent, sister, friend, and neighbor, Anita will be missed greatly. Please join us to celebrate the life of Anita on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 11:00 am at Trinity Southport Church, 651 Pequot Ave, Southport, CT 06890. A reception will be held immediately following the service.
