He spent his early years in Bridgeport where his family owned and operated The Venice Importing Company, a Mediterranean grocery store serving Southwestern Connecticut and area restaurants. He would later relocate to Fairfield with both his family and their business attending Fairfield schools.

He is survived by his children, Sara P Montero and her husband Walter R. of Fairfield, CT; Joshua A Pappas and his wife Dr. Helen E of Wilmette, IL; Four grandchildren, Zoe and Walter A Montero of Fairfield, CT, and Paul and Sophie Pappas of Wilmette, IL; Older brothers Theodore and Peter of Milford, CT, and younger sister Stacie P Crespo (née Pappas) of Fairfield, CT; His nephew and nieces Daniel Pappas, Andrea Navarro (née Pappas) and Anastasia Crespo. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Sophie Pappas, in addition to his brother-in-law Hector Crespo.

Following in the footsteps of his entrepreneurial father, Alex pursued a career in Cosmetology and would own and operate a full service salon, Hair Together Inc, in nearby Stratford, CT for over 40 years. As his business name implies, he had a natural ability to bring people together and was always quick with a witty joke and conversation. Many of his clients and co-workers would become lifelong personal and family friends. Although Alex formally retired in 2021, he continued to offer his expertise to friends and relatives until his passing.

Alex was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Bridgeport, CT and was proud of his family’s heritage and traditions. As an excellent chef, he enjoyed maintaining multigenerational family recipes and would often host holiday meals. Alex also loved to garden and took pride in maintaining a beautiful landscape where he could entertain in warmer months. Hobbies through the years included sailing, travel, decorating, keeping his cars spotless and enjoying the many New England beaches and shoreline communities. Above all of these, embracing the role of “Papou” and spending time with his four grandchildren was a priority.
